TRCIL has donated durable medical equipment (DME) available for a small fee, to people with disabilities.  There is no charge for equipment for Veterans.

Individuals who need home medical equipment and who have limited insurance coverage and/or limited financial resources can get items we have in stock through a REUTILIZATION program called “Into New Hands”.  Into New Hands was started by several Pittsburgh area social service agencies and health care institutions.

Since its beginning, this program has distributed equipment to an average of three hundred (300) individuals per year valued at $70,000 per year.

Types of equipment distributed may include (but are not limited to):

  • Walkers

  • Reachers

  • Elevated Toilet Seats

  • Wheelchairs (Manual or Power)

  • Over-the-bed Tables

  • Tub Rails

  • Grab Bars

  • Hoyer Lifts

  • Bedside Commodes

  • Canes

Individuals who do not have insurance coverage for devices are eligible to receive pre-owned equipment.  For those under age 18, specific items may not be furnished unless a written prescription is furnished (i.e. a wheelchair which requires specific adaptations).

If specific types of equipment are provided, the person under 18 must be assessed by a qualified therapist.

All requests are considered on an individual basis.  All items are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
